Photojournalism

These photos are from a gallery on the University of Westminster website.
The university offers a year program in photojournalism, a career I am looking in to.
I love these three photos because they offer such different feelings. The one of the girls is sad and disturbing and makes me feel a little frighten about what is being taught to children in North Korea.
The one of the girl dancing has a feeling of liveliness and playfulness. However, the girl in the photo is a prostitute in Iran. With this information, the feeling of the photo changes to a little more surreal.
The last photo is one of my favorites. Although the gut feeling is sadness for the man who lost his arms, the feeling quickly changes to joy and respect for the young boy helping the man button his shirt.

Traveling Central and South America

While traveling, I want to stop in Costa Rica and Peru. This photo of Costa Rica looks sooo relaxing and makes me what to jump in and start an adventure!

This photo of Peru also makes me want to start an adventure. I want to climb the mountains and visit where my step-grandmother was raised. Based on this photo, the country looks so lush and natural.

Traveling Africa

While traveling the world, I want to visit Egypt and Morocco. Both places are so exotic and interesting.
The Egyptian photo is very intriguing and reminds me of what I think of when I think Egypt; camels, sand and pyramids.
The photo of Morocco is exotic but also has a feeling of hominess and comfort with all the people sitting around. I love the colors of the country, oranges and blues.

Traveling Europe

One of my life goals is to travel the world. I want to study photography in London and Italy!
The London photo looks like an HDR type photograph. I love the view of two iconic British sites!
The photo of Italy, for me, is very inviting! I love the view of the water and trees mixed with the royal feel of the buildings.
If I can't photograph my way through Italy, I want to cook my way!

Ads- Round Two

I like these photos not only because of the beauty and history, but also because they are sexy without being obvious and over the top.

Advertising Photos

I am very interested in work for an Ad agency as a photographer in the future. I love the comparison of the old ad vs. the new. Both photos are up-close, beauty shots but the photo on the left has an obvious newness to the angle and flare of the photo.
I love the elegance and easy of this photo. The woman is royal but seems approachable. The black and white adds to the untimeliness of this photo.

Nov 8-14

This week I chose my Annie photos to replicate!

I love her photos because of her use of dramatic light and color. She has such a unique view of what is beautiful!

Week of Nov 1

This week was a great one! I got to attend a preview screening of the PSYCH 1/2 season premier and meet the two stars of the show! I chose Annie Lebovitz as my photographer assignment topic and I attended a great cupcake festival.

Halloween!

I LOVE Halloween. The fall colors, orange and yellow and reds, make me feel warm and the chance to dress up as someone else for a night is fun!

Fairy Tales do Come True

This is a photo is of a young girl from Australia who became a Queen.
How inspiring? A modern day Grace Kelly!

oh-la-la

This is great because it looks like a jewelry ad from the 60's. Very chic and classic.

I'm sooo behind!

The reason I love these photos is because of the context of each one. Both have incredible emotion; one is longing and boredom and the other is love and joy.

Historical Figures

Who doesn't love the Beatles or Katharine Hepburn?
These people were trail blazers and these photos are as iconic as the people in them.

Photos from week of 09/26

I love these three because they are all beautiful editorial shots. Very interesting and intriguing.

Eye on the Prize

I found this to be interesting not only because of the close photo of the eye but also because of the beautiful pink eye makeup.

Choo-Choo

The best part of the photo is the feeling. It really captures a moment in time, a historical second.

The Hippie Revolution

Haight-Ashbury is were the Hippie Movement began. This is the start of one of the most famous counter-cultures (and one of my favorite cultures).

This picture seems to capture history, my favorite part of photography.

I See You

I like this because it has a very interesting look to the flim. It looks like the Urban Outfitters catalog.

Editorial Illusions

I love this optical illusion! The photo is borderline disturbing but that's what makes it interesting and in a weird way, beautiful!

Swing Swing

I love this because it looks like a still from an old movie...plus the swing ride at the fair was my favorite!

Advertising Beauty

I am drawn to fashion/ editorial photography. I love the elegance and beauty of these shots.
After being an advertising manager for over a year, I've began to see the world as great ads vs. bad ads.
This would make a great ad!

"Aug 26th"

(This was meant to be posted Aug 26th)
I found these 3 to be interesting and lovely to look at. I thought the alphabet was especially creative.

Time...for Fashion!

I love the look of this old clock! The model looks like the hands of the clock while still looking beautiful and sophisticated.

Toes in the Sand

This is a beautiful fashion shot. It does what it is meant to do...sell stuff. I want her dress, her hair, and to be at the beach. With this picture, they have me sold on everything!

....ooo that smell....

One of my favorite photography subjects are cosmetics. I thought the angle and colors were captivating in this shot.

Making Memories

I love photography because you can capture history! With a click of the button, you can capture a moment as personal as a first date to as historical as the first woman vote. People's stories can change, but a camera captures only what it sees...the good, the bad and the ugly.

When I look at this picture I imagine how happy this young woman was when she caught this fish. Maybe she out did her male buddy...
